"Moskva" visits Colombo
On August 13-15, 2010 the Flag Ship of the Russian Navy Black Sea Fleet missile cruiser "Moskva" paid a
friendly visit to Sri Lanka. At the port of Colombo it was ceremonially welcomed by the staff of the Russian Embassy
with their family members, representatives of the Sri Lanka – Russian Friendship Society and the Association of Sri
Lankan Graduates as well as Sri Lanka Navy band.

I.Tronev paid a protocol call on H.E. the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the
Republic of Sri Lanka Vladimir P.Mikhaylov, who later paid a return call onboard the cruiser.
Hon. Minister of Construction, Engineering Services and Housing Amenities Wimal Weerawansa, Commander of the Sri
Lanka Navy Vice Admiral T.Samarasinghe and Commander of the Sri Lanka Army General J. Jayasuriya participated in the
reception given onboard the cruiser.
During the stay of "Moskva" Russian sailors went for sightseeing tours in Colombo and to ancient capital
Kandy, played soccer match with the Sri Lanka Navy team.
Four junior officers of Sri Lanka Navy got train on board the missile cruiser "Moskva".
The call of "Moskva" to Colombo aroused much interest of the Sri Lankan public: more than one thousand of
