Russia participated in the 60th Anniversary of Sri Lanka Navy
On December 9, 2010 by the invitation of the Government of Sri Lanka 1st Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Navy Vice Admiral Oleg V. Burtsev arrived in Colombo to participate in the 60th Jubilee of Sri Lanka Navy. Vice Admiral Oleg V. Burtsev conveyed congratulations of the Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Vladimir S. Vysotsky to Sri Lanka Navy Commander, visited naval base in Trinkomali and took part in protocol events: Presidential fleet review, international sail past.
Furthermore on December 7-11, 2010 the major anti-submarine ship of the Russian Pacific Fleet "Admiral Vinogradov" paid a friendly visit to Sri Lanka. The vessel on board of which there are two desk-based helicopters sailed off Vladivostok in November to attend international anti-piracy operation and called at the port of Colombo on the way to the Gulf of Aden.
Commander of the cruise - Chief of Staff of the Pacific Fleet naval surface force Captain 2nd Rank Ivan A. Kovalev and Commander of "Admiral Vinogradov" major anti-submarine ship – Captain 1st Rank Petr A. Podkopaylo paid a protocol call on H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Sri Lanka Vladimir P. Mikhaylov, who later paid a return call onboard the cruiser.
Russian mariners went for sightseeing tours in Colombo, visited military objects and met with their Sri Lankan counterparts.
Afterwards the visit the "Admiral Vinogradov" ship laid a course for their anti-piracy patrol zone in the Gulf of Aden.
